$5 FRIDAYLast year we were contacted by a kind woman who rescued a few bunnies that found their way into her yard. A neighbor had released them some time ago. As these stories typically go, she found herself with an additional 7 baby bunnies last spring. This $5 Friday, we are cheering on Mabel, Maddie, Benji, Mazie, Petra, Charlotte, Ellie, Sheldon (now adopted and living his best life!), Millie and Pickles! Whew!Luv-N-Bunns can’t continue to help bunnies without your support. Every donation counts and makes a world of a difference for these bunnies. WELL BUNNY WEDNESDAY: Sharing Your Home with Multiple Kinds of Pets Many people say that they would love a rabbit as a pet, or even as a foster BUT they already have cats/dogs/etc. Fortunately, other pets and rabbits CAN live harmoniously together. In fact, there are many Luv-N-Bunns alumni who have canine and feline “siblings”! Although bunnies are prey animals and are very cautious with cats/dogs/predator animals, they can live together peacefully IF you know your pet dog/cat well, and know their natural prey instincts. An animals “prey drive” consists of 5 different behaviors: searching, stalking, chasing, biting to grab and biting to kill. If you have observed these behaviors in your dog/cat with squirrels/mice/etc, then bringing a bunny into your home may not be a good idea. Other questions to ask yourself:* Is your pet dog/cat well-trained? Will they obey ALL of your commands? * Is your pet naturally aggressive? Or mostly docile?* Can you commit to keeping your pets separated with supervised time to slowly introduce them? And can you keep them completely safe/separate if needed? If either animal shows signs of distress, they will need to be kept separately and safely. * Does your dog bark loudly and often? This could be stressful to a rabbit. Lastly, consider the risk of fleas, ticks or other parasites that can be transmitted to your rabbit if your dog/cat spends a lot of time outdoors. Although research suggests that cats and rabbits usually co-exist somewhat easier than dogs and rabbits, given proper gradual, supervised introduction steps, almost any pets can co-exist in the same home. There are many resources such as the House Rabbit Resource Network and Rabbit.org that can provide additional resources, in addition to speaking with your trusted vet. Not every dog/cat will be a good match for a bunny in the home…and not every bunny will have the personality to live peacefully with a dog/cat. You have to know YOUR pets and decide on a case by case basis if they can get along safely and harmoniously. Hoppy Tails! ... See MoreSee Less

MAKING IT OFFICIALAsk any of our adoption center volunteers, and they’ll tell you it’s impossible not to get attached to the furry little faces that greet them at every shift. You probably won’t be surprised to hear, then, that many of our volunteers have more bunnies now than when our doors first opened. It’s the best kind of occupational hazard. 😉Our AC bunns are very good at deciding if they’d like to adopt a volunteer of their very own, and this little guy said, “Yes, please!” He hopped home with one of our volunteers as a foster early last month, and when he offered this most dramatic flop over the weekend, she knew it was time to make it official. Congratulations to this cutie and his now forever mama! ... See MoreSee Less

TAKE ME HOME TUESDAYMeet Ellie! Her foster mama says, “She is a gentle ginger lady who has been loved up since she was born in rescue! She is all ears and binkies at a new foster home, socializing with human and doggie foster siblings. Ellie has good litterbox habits and flattens out to enjoy pets. This girl also loves her treats - she savors a tiny bit of banana from your palm, but will snatch an orchard loop and run to devour it by herself. She is a delightful roommate and her forever family will be lucky to enjoy her company.“To meet this sweet bunn, email bunnies@luvnbunns.org for an adoption application! ... See MoreSee Less
